Interesting Things I Et and Dranked This Weekend

Had some good stuff with good friends in Charlottesville this weekend. Here’s my faves from dining out:

La Cura Loca @ The Bebedero

Their description: Scorpion infused Mezcal lemon cordial and Three Notched No Veto Brown ale. Smoky, sweet, tart and nutty. “You’re not allergic to poison are you?”

My luck: They gave me the scorpion each time. Mmm. Crunchy.

A breakfast taco called El Ray @ Beer Run

Their description: Local Eggs, Cheese, Avocado, Organic Black Beans, Bacon, and Organic Spinach

I added a Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion No. 006 India Pale Ale. Good morning, every one!

Potters Oak Barrel Reserve Cider (9.5%) @ Michael’s Bistro and Taphouse

Their description: Patiently aged in oak barrels sourced from a local apple brandy distillery, every batch of this handcrafted cider develops unique character and complexity. Traditional barrel-aging techniques produce a full-bodied cider with intense aromas of caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak. Bright fruit flavors (crisp apple, pear, brandied cherries) give way to butterscotch and toffee with complex tannins in the finish.

Absorbed with: Loaded Fries with bacon, sour cream, green onion, and melted cheddar. Burp.

Part of a tapas sitting with Brewery Ommegang’s Hennepin.
